Punjab on High Alert as Water Levels Rise in Sutlej, Ravi, Chenab & Jhelum

Punjab’s PDMA has issued flood alerts after India released water from Pong Dam on River Beas into the Sutlej, raising flow to 29,000 cusecs at Ganda Singh Wala. A low flood is in effect, with more rain forecast from August 13. Earlier, a sudden release into the Chenab triggered medium flood at Marala Headworks, posing threats to nearby villages.

Authorities have directed all districts to remain on high vigilance, while the public is urged to follow safety advisories as fresh monsoon rains may worsen the situation.
