Elon Musk’s xAI to Sue Apple Over Alleged App Store Bias

Billionaire Elon Musk announced Monday that his AI company xAI will sue Apple, accusing it of antitrust violations through biased App Store rankings. Musk claims Apple’s preference for OpenAI whose ChatGPT holds the #1 spot in “Top Free Apps” makes it almost impossible for rival AI apps to compete. His chatbot Grok sits at #5, while Google’s Gemini ranks far lower.
The suit will target what Musk calls anti-competitive behavior, pointing to Apple’s exclusive partnership with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
Context:
Regulators in the US and EU are already probing Apple’s App Store practices.
Apple has faced fines and court rulings over alleged competition law violations.
The case could intensify the debate over big tech dominance in AI and app marketplaces.
