In a shocking revelation, over 11.48 billion rupees worth of loan records have gone missing from the Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited(ZTBL). According to a report presented during a Public Accounts Committee(PAC) meeting, more than 22,000 loan files were originally on record, but now over 11,400 have vanished. Among them, around 5,000 files were reportedly burned during the unrest following Benazir Bhutto’s assassination, while the rest are unaccounted for. The bank’s president admitted that 790 files remain untraceable. The missing files raises serious concerns over accountability and the recovery of massive public funds.
